Veterinary May Day 2026

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the traditional Veterinary May Day celebration took place in the outdoor area in front of the SIC. The event was opened by VETUNI Rector Prof. Ing. Eva Voslářová, Ph.D., together with student representatives and popular host Jan Bedřich, our alumnus and current spokesperson for the Brno Zoo. The festive opening was further enhanced by trumpeters from the VETUNI Hunting Club. Stalls run by student clubs were set up in the area in front of the SIC, including the VETUNI Hunting Club, the VETUNI Equestrian Club, IVSA Brno, a booth with school merchandise, and many others, including food and drink vendors, where the organizers did not forget about vegetarians and vegans. At 2:00 p.m., the equestrian program began in the VETUNI riding hall, where spectators could watch a four-in-hand team, synchronized dressage, and a carriage driving performance. At 3 p.m., the popular Voříškidáda began—a highly entertaining competition for dog owners and their furry friends, who had to overcome various challenges, including tasty treats placed along the course, a bread roll retrieval, and speed races. At 4 p.m., the Veterinary Relay began, organized by the Institute of Physical Education and Sport at VETUNI, with 16 teams registered this year. The gold medal went to the mixed team Kluski ślaskie, silver to Rakety, and third place to PR or CPR. The gold medal for the all-female team was won by Veni, cucurri, vůči. This was followed by the popular alcohol-themed contests, which were won by Neskutečné vevereky. Congratulations to all the competitors, and thank you to the fans for their support. The sunny May Day celebration then continued with free entertainment until 10 p.m.
